Guilty Confessions

Environmentalists like to act high and mighty sometimes, like earth goddesses destined to restore the ecosystem and punish those who harm it. Labor Day Weekend I was feeling determined. I ran two miles to watch Suicide Squad at the theater, and ran back. How environmentally conscious, right? I know I seem perfect, but I have some confessions to make.

I leave my laptop to charge overnight. As it only takes my baby two hours to charge, I’m wasting that extra electricity. I’m just too lazy to wake up at midnight.
My face wash contains micro-beads. I’m sorry, really. All the creams at my local store contain these tiny plastic pieces that usually end up polluting the ocean. They work wonders for my pores but I know I need to find a new product.
I don’t recycle right. I don’t have a car so I can never take used batteries to a proper recycling location. In addition, when I’m cleaning my apartment sometimes I’ll throw recyclable things in the trash.

For starters I participate in the capitalist market as a consumer, which is a rather severe environmental crime. Not much I can do about that one though. I also tend to throw away things that could be composted, eat meat, and love warm (but short) showers. Another confession is that I leave the dehumidifier on in my room when I don’t need it, because it’s literally the only source of heat (and a poor one at that). So I’m apparently not much of an environmentalist :p

    Haha yea, according to you speak to global capitalism can be said to be at the heart of all environmental problems…in a sense. But it’s difficult to think of a better alternative. And consumerism does benefit the economy!

At least you are aware, thinking about it, and trying hard. I am definitely not perfect. I sometimes take long showers or even a bath when my muscles and joints really seem to need it… And I do have a car… I do try to do other things right.

  Only one car? One of my professors admitted the other day to owning two for herself. One to travel long distances, and the other to drive around in! You may be more sustainable than you realize 🙂

I’ve done the same thing with my phone, leaving it charging all night. (I just forget.) And I’m bad with the plastic bags from the grocery store, too. Sometimes I just throw them away!

  I’m with you on that. Which reminds me that this week’s eco-challenge is to use #ecotainers! You can save a little energy and plastic by bringing your own containers like reusable lunch bags or grocery bags along.

I compost and love using the soil the following year to grow my vegies.
I over charge my phone also and eat some beef. Not often.

To be honest I may not be inspiring
but it takes someone special to inspire me most of the time it’s you and your Writings now and your writing i can say one thing that there is a essence of feeling which can be felt deep inside my heart the way u potrait words and mix up with the feeling is really magical and its hard for me sometime to move out of it .You pen down the things in words is beautiful and magical
